Spectrum Singers' founder

In memory of Stuart Edwards

Our chamber choir was founded in  2001 by Stuart Edwards, Spectrum Singers' original musical director and leading tenor. The choir is a legacy of Stuart’s twin musical passions: he was a church organist and choirmaster, so we’re a chamber choir performing sacred music at one end of the spectrum; he’d also enjoyed past success with his own barbershop quartet ‘Four in a Chord’, so alongside the Great British choral tradition, we sing close-harmony, doo-wap style 20th-century pop songs, inspired by groups such as The King's Singers and The Swingles.

Stuart hand-picked many of the singers who are still part of our a cappella group today and we continue to sing the beautiful arrangements of familiar tunes that he gave us, which have always brought joy to those who hear them.
